2019 Spotlight on the Riviera
May 29-June 13, 2019
Now and then Doubloon Tours ventures a bit farther from home in search of the roots of our unique culture.
On May 29th we're flying to Milan and then transferring to Genoa, Capital of Liguria and city rich in history and culture. That will be our base for a four-day exploration of the wonders of this northern Italian coastal region known as the Italian Riviera. In addition to Genoa itself, we'll marvel at the natural beauty and charming villages perched along the edge of the Ligurian Sea, not least of which are the famous Cinque Terre. Get your boat shoes! This is a view you'll want from the water. The birthplace of pesto and focaccia will surely seduce with its delicious hearty fare and local wines. Andiamo!
But just when that lyrical language of Liguria begins to lull you into a luscious lethargy, and you're just about ready to change your name to Gina or Giuseppe.....it's off to France!
We'll whisk you away by coach for a scenic adventure along the Meditarranean coast, stopping to visit Monaco, where we'll put it all on red (or black?), take our winnings, bid adieu to the Prince, and arrive shortly thereafter in Nice La Belle, Queen City of the French Riviera.
From there we will take nine full days, tracing along the coast and inland, following the modernist footsteps of Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, and Leger. Our discovery of the Côte d'Azur will be chock full of natural, historical, anad gastronomic treasures, but we will not shy away from the glamour and celebrity that will surely follow us (as it did Brigitte Bardot) from St. Tropez to Grasse (perfume capital of France) to Cannes to Nice's own Promenade des Anglais.
As we mingle with the rich and famous, there will be plenty of Provençal wine to sample -- What are you waiting for?
Our departure from Nice to New Orleans will be on June 13th. Details on pricing will be coming soon. Meanwhile, contact us to state your interest, so we can hold your place on this trip. Remember, we strive for that intimate and fun size -- something around 20 participants.
There will soon be a trip brochure to download.
